Eid Ramadan: LSA extends warm wishes to Muslims.

The Liberian Swedish Association (LSA) extends warm wishes to all Muslims, particularly its members - a warm heartfelt “Ramadan Kareem”! May this revered month bring joy, peace, and spiritual fulfillment.

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, holds special significance as the holiest period for Muslims worldwide.

Throughout Ramadan, Muslims demonstrate heightened spiritual devotion and physical discipline by fasting from dawn until dusk, as mandated in the Quran. This practice involves refraining from food, drink, and other physical indulgences during daylight hours throughout the month.

At sunset, Muslims gather with loved ones to break their fast with Iftar, a communal meal symbolizing gratitude and unity, followed by the Maghrib prayer—one of Islam’s five daily prayers.

Ramadan is a time for introspection, prayer, and acts of charity. Muslims strive to read the entire Quran, participate in mosque prayers and study sessions, and generously donate to those in need. Many mosques and charitable organizations organize food drives and other initiatives during this period.

According to Islamic tradition, Ramadan traces its origins to the seventh century when the Prophet Muhammad received the first verses of the Quran. The Quranic revelation commenced on the 27th night of Ramadan, known as Laylat al-Qadr or the Night of Power. This night holds immense significance, is considered the holiest of the year, worth more than a thousand months of prayers.

May the blessings of Ramadan illuminate your journey, bringing you closer to Allah and enriching your life with faith and compassion.

Ramadan Mubarak!
