Mr. Ford and Officials leadership agenda

Updated: Dec 25, 2018

Mr. Ford and some key officials

The Liberian Swedish Association new leadership in persons of Mr. David Ford and officials have created an agenda which they believed will help them to better serve, unite and strengthen the bond between Liberians living in Sweden and also to make contributions in Liberia, especially to children living in deplorable conditions.

With their agenda and ideas from the Liberian community, they also intend to bridge the gap between generations of Liberians in order to enhance the unification that Liberians have enjoyed under the leadership of Mr. Mensah and his officials. To achieve these goals, Mr. Ford has adopted a decentralized leadership structure by appointing officials from different communities in Stockholm. He believes that this approach will help clear or eradicate the notion that LSA leadership is made up of one group of people from the same community and will promote the act of inclusion and participation of all Liberians and also allow flow of diverse ideas from these officials.

The leaders also intend to promote awareness about LSA, by implementing initiatives which will inform Liberians about happenings within the organization and the community. Currently, some elements of these initiatives are ongoing; an information card and LSA blog has been created and launched to dispense information about ongoing and unfolding events in the Liberian community. This blog will be updated every month. In addition, Mr. Ford also intend to renovate LSA website to make it modern and contemporary in order for it to be up-to-date and fit-in with other organizations websites and to meet the informational needs of Liberians and supporters of LSA in Sweden and abroad.

And, the leadership also intend to work closely with other LSA branches in Goteborg, Malmö and those living in the north and the rest of Sweden, and to continue working with the European Federation of Liberians Associations (EFLA), and other African and Swedish organizations in Sweden and abroad.

In order to address some of the concerns that have been expressed by Liberians, Mr. Ford and officials have established several micro committees, which are headed by passionate and capable Liberians. They encourage all Liberians who desire to work in any of these committees to please contact committee heads.

1. A Committee for children affairs:

This committee will be responsible for creating recreation and educational activities for kids so that they won’t be left out of social activities, and for them to participate in educational activities about their motherland, Liberia. Therefore, the leadership is encouraging all parents to bring their children to these activities whenever they are created.

2. A Conflict Resolution Committee:

The conflict resolution committee is to help resolve some of the problems that are currently prevailing or may arise in the future among Liberians so that Liberians can continue to live and interact with each other as united people.

3. Events Committee:

The Events committee will be responsible for organising events as well as catering to them.

4. LSA Media Committee:

The Media committee will be responsible for Public Relation activities for promoting the organisation as well as informing the Liberian community through media outlets such as LSA website, blog, Facebook, and WhatsApp.

5. Sport committee:

This committee will be responsible for arranging and organising sporting activities which will include football, kickball, and other Liberian traditional games.

6. And, the Outreach Committee:

The outreach committee will be responsible for reaching out to those Liberians that previously associated with the organisation but no longer do, and those Liberians who wish to be part of the organisation but do not know how.
