LSA Norrland Goes to Election

Updated: Feb 9, 2020

The Liberian Swedish Association Norrland Branch, LSANB is to host an election on Saturday, February 22, 2020. LSANB was established on Saturday, March 30th, 2019 to serve as an extension of the Liberian Swedish Association, LSA for Liberians residing in cities from Sundsvall to further north of Sweden. Upon the establishment of LSANB, an interim leadership comprising of Weah E. Harris - Chairman, Ambrose J. Julue - Vice Chairman, Sakou Konneh - Secretary, Elizabeth J. Bah - Financial Secretary, Redcy Wruou - Head of planning committee, and George T. Wilson - Chaplin, was installed to govern the administrative affairs of the branch until it was deemed ready to elect its own corp of officers. As such, the leadership was given the mandate to recruit more members, make the branch stronger and self-efficient, and to take it to an election. After nearly a year into office, the leadership was able to successfully accomplish these required mandates. Therefore, on December 26, 2019, the leaders expressed their readiness via a former request to LSA Stockholm Headquarters to take LSANB to an election. Based on these achievements, and after a careful investigation, the leadership of LSA Stockholm Headquarter amicably agreed to grant LSANB the go-ahead to host an election in order to put in place an electoral leadership that will take over the administrative affairs of LSANB from the interim leadership. On this note, Mr. Beyan R. Kesselly and Mr. Abraham Jallah were appointed to serve as election commissioners for LSANB upcoming election. As commissioners, they will perform their duties according to the election guidelines and regulations within the LSA constitution, along with a few added regulations which were agreed upon by officials of LSA Stockholm Headquarter and LSANB interim leadership. LSA President, Mr. David Ford and Vice President, Mrs. Koo Y. Joseph will work alongside the commissioners as election observers - to make sure that the election goes according to plans and within the confinement of the election guidelines and regulations. Accordingly, LSANB election process will take place according to the following time-table: • Registration dates for candidates - January 20th - February 3, 2020 • Announcement of registered candidates - February 5, 2020 • Official campaigning start on - February 5, 2020 • Official campaigning end on- February 21, 2020 • Election date - February 22, 2020 • Announcement of winners - February 22, 2020
