Liberia's Independence Day Celebration Stockholm: A Two-Day Festivity on August 3rd and 4th, 2024

Updated: Jul 1

The Liberian Swedish Association (LSA) is thrilled to announce a two-day celebration in Stockholm to commemorate Liberia's 177th year of independence on Saturday, August 3rd, and Sunday, August 4th, 2024.

Although Liberia's official Independence Day is on July 26th, this year’s celebration in Stockholm was rescheduled to avoid overlapping with a joint event in Wolfsburg, Germany, organized by the European Federation of Liberian Associations (EFLA) and the Liberian Association in Deutschland (LAD).

The two-day event in Stockholm will celebrate Liberia's rich culture and heritage through music, dance, and performances. Attendees can enjoy traditional Liberian cuisine and popular music. There will also be sporting activities, including football and kickball matches, enhancing the festive atmosphere. Everyone is invited to join in honoring Liberia's independence and the freedoms it represents.

Here is the schedule for this year's celebration in Stockholm:

DAY 1:

Saturday, August 3rd - Afternoon (Meet and Greet/Sports Day)

- The day will kick off with a football match at Hägerstensåsen BP, Personnevägen 35, Hägersten, from 14:00 to 18:00. Women and girls will also showcase their skills in a kickball match.

DAY 1:

Saturday, August 3rd - Evening (Independence Day Ball/Party)

- The Independence Day Ball/Party will be held at Rågsveds Folkets hus in Rågsveds Centrum, from 22:00 to 03:00, featuring an all-night party with music by DJ Junior, one of Stockholm's finest DJs.

DAY 2:

Sunday, August 4th-Barbecue/BBQ

- A delightful barbecue will take place at Varby Gård Strand, Stockholm, starting at 14:00. The event will include various games like checkers, lulu, cards, and more, along with activities for kids. Everyone is encouraged to bring food for the grill.

The LSA leadership invites the entire LSA community and the public to attend and show their support. This celebration offers a wonderful opportunity to come together and honor Liberia's hard-earned independence.

SAVE THE DATE and join us for this year's festivities as we celebrate Liberia in grand style!
