Liberia: LSA Extends Condolences to Families of Fire Victims

Updated: Feb 23

According to reports, a devastating fire claimed the lives of at least 28 individuals at a boarding school in a Monrovia suburb, the capital of Liberia. The tragic incident is believed to have occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, September 18, 2019, while students of the Koranic boarding school were asleep in a building adjacent to their mosque in the Paynesville suburb of Monrovia.

In response to this heartbreaking event, President Dr. George Weah has directed the police to launch a thorough investigation into the cause of the fire. News reports from Liberia's executive mansion also confirm that President Weah personally visited the site to offer his condolences to the grieving families affected by this tragedy.

In solidarity with the affected families during this challenging time, the Liberian Swedish Association, LSA extends its deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences. We stand in solidarity with the bereaved families, sharing in their sorrow and loss. LSA humbly urges all its members and supporters to keep the affected families in their thoughts and prayers as they navigate through this difficult period of mourning and healing.
